Report for the professional English competition in Tourism School

        In order to activate campus cultural life and improve students' professional English level and communicative ability, the Tourism School held a special professional English competition in the collaborative education center on the first floor of the International Exchange School on the afternoon of November 12th.
        This competition is the first English competition of Tourism School. It opens to all the students from sophomore and junior grades. From the preliminary competition, 31 students were selected founded on the written test results. They entered the final competition with the group formed by a class. With the theme of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the competition not only presented students' English ability and spiritual outlook in different forms such as stage play, recitation and dance, but also asked professional questions to test their resilience and knowledge reserve. According to the post-competition summary of Li Yi, Li Xue and Jin Ciping, the judges of this competition,  the following characteristics of this competition are:
        First, Preparation by students for the competition is meticulous and full with carefully selected materials and active rehearsal. The content of each performance is healthy and progressive, and the story is vivid and interesting, including not only the story about red tourism told while walking, but the simulative contest of hotel knowledge. Under the judicious arrangement of the students, it became a wonderful propaganda of tourism knowledge.
        Second, the program was perfect in content and students’ English was excellent. At the competition site, students won critical acclaim from judges and audiences with standard and fluent oral English and smile and confident stage presence.
        Third, the significance of this competition is positive.The purpose of it is to encourage students to learn and use English well from practice, so that English can be a part of their daily life.
In the end , through the judges' comprehensive scores in terms of content arrangement, oral English pronunciation standards, performance skills and on-site effects, etc., the class 173 won the First Prize, the class 171 and 183 won the Second Prize respectively, the class 172 and 181 tied for the Third Prize. At the same time, Li Shuang, Han Qinzhou, Li Chenyao, three students won the Awards for Individual Excellence.
        The whole competition achieved the expected goal and concluded in a warm and happy atmosphere.
